Re: Windows Disk Backup

Hi,

I need to explain little bit more...

Disk Image Backup using Data Protector is what it is, a block level backup of your partitions. The usage for that are filesystems with million of small files or when no single file restore is required. Keep in mind that you can restore the whole partition / disk only. So, if you already made the backup using disk image option, there is nothing special you can do with that backup; it is in Data Protector media format and will be handled as all other Data Protector backups from media points of view.

If you require the backup for Disaster Recovery purpose, I recommend to get a backup using the AutoDR module installed. In this case you are able to restore the server using the EADR funtion in Data Protector - see my blog at www.data-protector.org and search for "EADR", regarding requirements, etc... In case you have a W2012 server, you can use the built-in backup to get a "disaster recovery image" for your server.

Best regards

Daniel
