For supported Disaster Recovery methods for the OS you use have a look at the Disaster Recovery white paper from hp. For physical servers i use EADR. Works fine. Also for vms. but if you have vms running the better option would be to do a vStorage API Backup from the whole vm. faster for restore in desaster case

 

for the Cell Server i use built in Windows Server Backup tool to do a Backup of the Server (System Disk, i usually select bare-metal-recovery) to a dedicated disk or to a network path. You could also do a full backup including the partition where dp is installed. keep in mind, if you use windows server backup to backup to a network share, only one version is keept. so if you need versioning, you should backup those vhd files with dp...

windows server backup creates some vhd files... its more or less like an imageing tool.
