We probably don't have a procedure in place for this. INnfact, I would like to see something in the Product Announcements Guide that prohibits this
I am not a fan of backing up the IDB to disk in general and to a Dedupe device in particular. I think that if you have a stand-alone tape drive or a tape library, you should always back the IDB up to tape
I suggest that you submit an enhancement request from this URL:

asking for a whitepaper or some kind of procedure on how to do this
Perhaps another user has done this, and would be able to supply you with real-world information, but I have never heard of it happening before
