Backup of W2012 deduplicated volume

Hello,

we are using DP 7.01 on HP-UX and trying to backup our first W2012 server with a dedup volume (d: drive). During night a software dumps large amounts of data on this 5 TB volume which gets deduplicated during the day. In the evening a dedup rate of 90% is reached and only 1 TB is really used. The amount of deduped data is 20 TB.

Our first backup showed that DP is backing up  the whole 20 TB and not the dedupicated 1 TB. Is this this the way it works or should DP know about the dedup volume and backup only the dedup data + metadata?

What about restores? If DP is trying to restore the native 20 TB on the 5 TB volume a restore of the whole volume would certainly fail because W2012 dedup is not inline.

Any ideas? Do we have to upgrade or change the config to make this work?
