To create a nul device to backup to:
Add a device with a "Device Type" of Standalone. The "Client" should be the media server which is acting as the destination of the backups you wish to test.
The SCSI address should simply be called "nul" (without the quotes). No other configuration should be required.
Now try your backup again directing it to the nul device and see what results you get.
