Yes, I can ping the CM from the physical servers, and the CM can ping both the physical hosts and the nodes. The firewalls on the physical hosts have been configured to allow HPDPM.
Keep in mind that the nodes are just "logical" servers that exist on the hosts, they're not OSs with their own firewalls. The CM is able to backup the data on the hosts, just not the logical nodes that exist on the hosts.
