Re: Data Protector 7.0 Slow Restore Performance

Can you share the RMAN-Script used to backup the source Database?

When I scroll through the Log you attached I see a lot of commands that have nothing to do with a actual restore like RMAN Catalog resync. That isn't required when your data is consistent or you use the ControlFile for Versioning.

Also the Log states no space left on device in the end, had a condition before that caused the Processes to get stuck then only to be killed by a timeout eventually.

Have you tried to restore the mentioned Datafiles via DP GUI to target? That would omit all cosmetic clutter the DBAs may have included in their scripts.

The mentioned Datafiles/Tables are quite small compared to a complete 16TB Database.

When you mix smaller and bigger Datafiles in one RMAN-Stream the Restore has to read the whole Stream (or in case of concurrency 4 all four of them) to just get the required Data.

For such cases it can help to restrict the number of Files per Stream to 1. Slower Backup but faster Restore.
