Media verification can be done one of two ways:
- From the GUI, go to Devices and Media, expand your Library, single-click on the word Slots, which will expand your list in the Results area. Right-click on the slot number you are concerned with, and, from teh drop-down list, pick Veryfy. Pick a device, and pick OK
or
- The command
omnimver -device BackupDevice -slot SlotID
where BackupDevice is one of your logical devices in this library, and SlotID is the slot number, for example
To verify slot 32 of backup device "Spectra60", run:
omnimver -device Spectra60 -slot 32

You do not have to do anything to update the header on the tape or the IDB, this is part of the Verification process
