SOS copy/restore performance

Hi,

I do disk to disk to tape backup and I uses Store Once Software as the backup drive. it seems that best throughput during object copy from SOS to tape is when there is only one MA reading the data. This is strange as the SOS machine CPU/memory load is low. I have couple of questions:

1. do you observer similar behaviour?

2. how can I "tune" how many MA are used in parallel?

3. how does CM plan the object copy? I would assume that the largest objects will be copied first and smallest last but this is not the case. It seems that CM plans object copy with another objections, it starts with some of the small objects, then the large objects and finally the small objects again

My current setup is:

machine A - CM with SOS device

machine B - SOS device and LTO-4 tape drive on SCSI

1GBit network

Actual speed reported in around 20MB/s, only when the longest object is copied alone, all the other are already done, the speed increases to 80MB/s as this object is on machine A.

Kind regards, Jan
