Hello all, I am not a Data Protector expert and I recently got inivolved with this backup solution.
I am still getting familiar and learning about this product:
I have two questions:
- I have a Unix server with Data-Protector agent 5.0 (see below output). And I want to know if an agent can be managed by two separate cell managers at any given time.
# DATA-PROTECTOR A.05.00 HP OpenView Storage Data Protector
DATA-PROTECTOR.OMNI-CORE A.05.00 HP OpenView Storage Data Protector Core
DATA-PROTECTOR.OMNI-DA A.05.00 HP OpenView Storage Data Protector Disk Agent
DATA-PROTECTOR.OMNI-MA A.05.00 HP OpenView Storage Data Protector Media Agent
- I have a target server HPUX 11.11 with 20 FS and total of 2 TB data. This is a database backup, we are planning to migrate the DB to a linux server. In our process we NFS mount a Linux filesystem to a HPUX server and then we run the restore to the Linux NFS filesystem mounted on HPUX server. Once the restore finish the file fragamentation is very high. This affects not only the DB but the basic process such as cp, dd or cpio. To defragment the files we move the files out of the filesystem then move it back to its original FS. However this takes several hours as result of fragmentation.
Has anyone ran into fragmented files after restore and what is the best way to prevent fragmentation. Keep in mind that the filesystem is Linux NFS mounted on HPUX.
Thank you
Juan
