I'm looking at some many different options right now. I need to slow down and try and make the best decision but without knowing much about Data Protector there's just so much information to digest. We have the budget to purchase a D2D solution which will help speed up backups, but that still doesn't address the catalog issue. Sounds like DP8 could help with catalog issue but what's the best way to get to DP8? Do I do a fresh install of DP8, attach the brand new D2D library to it, start a fresh set of backups and leave the old DP environment around for restores? Do I try to upgrade existing environment to DP8? I don't know...need to keep reading and getting a better understanding.
Another option I've been reading about is MoM setups. I could create a MoM type configuration with maybe 3 cell managers underneath. One for our Linux clients, one for our Windows clients, and one for the backups we're doing for clients located in another building on a different subnet (taking a loooong time).
So many options, so little time....
Thanks for all the information as I can use all I can get!
