Compare your lic.dat file with what is showing in the DP GUI (Help>About). I had this issue after upgrading to version 8 where the GUI was not showing my cell manager license and my backups would not start with a similar message to the one you are seeing even though the license was listed in the lic.dat. To fix do the following...Copy the "missing" license out of the lic.bat file, then erase it out of lic.bat, then add it in the GUI (Clients drop down>right click Data Protector Cell>Add license)
