I checked lab cases, and, while I didn't find anything specific for DP 8, I found several cases of an almost identical error from earlier versions of Data Protector. There is some problem with a function call (DbgFcnOut ), and, in the previous version, they were fixed with Cell Server and Disk Agent patches
I think that you should have the latest SSP (Site-Specific Patch) installed, which fixed a number of problems with DP 8.0
SSPLNX800_002
While I don't see any sign of this SSP fixing your particular problem, not all problems fixed are always included in the patch description, so, it might help. You would probably need to install this SSP anyway at some point in time.
I wish you had sent the entire error message, specifically, the time stamp of this
Received ABORT request from SM => aborting
so, I could see if it lines up with what is in the debug.log file. Normally, this message represents a Network disconnect, and I would advise that you turn on the Option to 'Reconnect Broken Connections' by going to the Options tab and clicking on the Advanced button next to Backup Specification Options, and, perhaps, turning the network load down to Medium. I don't know if what is in the debug.log is releated to the error message during the session.
So, at this point, I don't know if you are looking at one problem or two
Please open a case with the response center. Ask them to put a copy of SSPLNX800_002 on a FTP site for you. Installation of a SSP just involving replacing files, make sure that you rename, not delete, the originals
If this doesn't help, they will ask you to run debugs, and I specifically suggest that INET debugs be included. I would advise you to clear the debug.log file first before running any debugs
