So even if i have good pings it does not mean everything is ok?
Which are relevant logs for this?

This may or may not be a DP problem.
The error is coming back form vmware, and although this URL may have no direct relation to your issue with dP, it confirms that the error is infat coming back from vmware.

When you try to connect to a virtual machine console from vCenter Server, you see these errors:
==============================================>
On a linux applicance, the virgo log would be located at path /var/log/vmware/vsphere-client/ ...but you may not find anything relevant with a time stamp matching the DP login failure.
If this is DP 7x on windows with latest DP patches it may be a known issue.
If it isn't, there is very possible a corruption with media.txt file. an Unsupported workaround is to delete the mentioned line in the media.txt and then, attempt the readb again .....
but to NOTE, that is an unsupported way of doing things. Asusming you try it, and it gets, past line 1, but complains of line 2, or 5, or ...etc..ect...best you do not import from this writedb, period as there is corruption
Hi,
Only DP 9 support oracle 12c, what version doy have?
Looks like login problema, post output:

Looking at Virgo logs nothing about DP access.
So, it seems, in the world no one has my configuration:
DataProtector 9.0 (patched 9.03) on Windows 2012
Vmware Appliance (so, linux) 5.5.0.2
It seems incredible!
I've done thorugh.
i've installed a linux IS and now i'm stuck at
Using secure shell protocol to connect to clients
then it quits with:
cannot find free ports on client we'll try again later.
But installation, of anything, does not complete.
which dp version are you running? there is/was a problem with this check in dp 9.02.
you could log a call by hp support if you are under maintenance support and ask for the fix QCCR2A58609_TM1
if you have expired medias in a pool (expired means that all data on tape has "lost" protection) dp automaticaly reuses those medias. in dp gui under the media pool there is a collum "Order". all expired medias or media with free space get an order number. in this order dp does use media when starting a backup job. this is how it works in general, but it also depends on your media pool settings (allocation)
Andre,
The files mainly consist of 4 x 270GB files and then alot of smaller of files.
so like you hinted at, i've changed the backup to do 1 file as 1 job, and then another as file 2 etc until i've now got 5 items for just the S: drive.
now the only problem i can see is the files when created have the following file names
"filename_FULL_datebackuptaken_1.sqb"
"filename_FULL_datebackuptaken_2.sqb"
"filename_FULL_datebackuptaken_3.sqb"
"filename_FULL_datebackuptaken_4.sqb"
Is there a way in DP i can make this automated, as the problem is these files are all in 1 folder. so the only way i can split this backup like this is to manually select the file. But come next week the file name will have a new date in the file name. which means the backup will fail as its looking for last weeks name.
If you were to initiate the backup from the command line using omnib you could specify -only filename.
HTH
Jeremy
Just following up to see if it was ever confirmed that DP 9 supports DAGs without Cluster Adminstrative Access points?
Thanks.
Hello Sandro,
Thanks for the reply.
The session detail o/p is attached and show full domain name in the object name.
in omnirc file of skvmbx2 client OB2BARHOSTNAME is already edited as below:
OB2BARHOSTNAME=SKDAG1.emaarec.com
DPCOM_SWITCHUSER_TIMEOUT=600
DPCOM_CONNECT_TIMEOUT=600
OB2IPCKEEPALIVE=1
Still restoration keeps failing.

Hello,
How to resatart DP9 services on Linux client.
omnisv -status| start|stop is not working as it says omnisv not found.
Please let me know the full path of omnisv
/etc/init.d/omni stop also don't work.
hmm if all files are in the same folder then this could be a problem.
what you could try is to work with the filter options in the backup job.
Make a new job and select the folder in which the files are you want to backup. then right click on top of the server (in the selection list) and make a copy. now you have the same server twice in the selection list. now select again the filder. go on like this if you have the folder selected as many times as you have those different big files. now go the "backup object summary" tab. there you should now see 5 obeject. click on the first -> properties and select the "Tree/Filter" Tab. Under trees you should now see the folder you selected. now go to filter and enter *1.sqd. Go to the next object and click on filter and and *2.sqd and so one.... this should then only backup the file you entered in the filter list on each object... Honestly i never done this so you have to test if it works as excepted. But it is the way i would try it... if that does not work, could you change the db structurre so that you have those db files in a directory each?
Hi,
Omnisv command is applicable only for Cell Server.
What would you like to restart on DP client?

Hi
Sorry, this is not supported.
But an enhancement request is already open to support sysbackup.
