"StoreOnce error: Bad objcet key

Medium could not be erased"

That is most likely MMA trying to delete objects that don't exist on the store. What procedure did you use to change store root?

Hi,

I'm not sure what exactly they need for device certification. But the easiest way of generating statistical info is by ticking "Display statistical info" in the Afvanced Filesystem options in the backup specification. In the properties of the Backup specification, go to the "Options" tab, click "Advanced..." next to Filesystem Options, click the "Other" tab and check the "Display statistical info" checkbox. Click "OK" and "Apply". The backup session report will now provide you with some performance numbers.

StoreOnceSoftware --configure_store_root --path=/new_folder --force

Now I have two stores active, HP know that I have made full backups on old path (store_root) , now doing incremental, but when try restore earlier mention error.

Question is , if I change path to previous folder I won't destory old backups I can restore backups from there ?

So you are possibly in situation where IDB is referencing objects from old root path store,  and you are using for new backups completely new one. Did you just configure new root, or there were additional steps involved like moving data from old path to new one? What was the exact process?

yes

Did you just configure new root,

yes

there were additional steps involved like moving data from old path to new one

no,  I do not wanna move backups, just use them and have access to them,

or

I wonder if I could change again root path to my previouswithout destroying old backups.

Definitions in Device Certification document

Hi

I am working on the Data Protector Device VTL Certification Document. I am looking for clarification on some of the words choosen in this document.

1) Append backup / Append restore. Meaning that the data which is being backed / restored has been added onto the media after other data was previously there?

2) Complete Appended session. Meaning the session has been added onto media which already had a session written to it?

3) Full restore. Meaning restore all of the media? Restore from multiple diffrent session across the meida?

4)tape drive sharing using lock names?

Appreciate it

What I see in the document is:

1) Append backup means appending to a tape which already has data on it. For this the pool needs to be appendable. For restore of an appended backup, both the restore of the complete backup as well as the restore of a single file from it are requested.

2) Restore of Complete Appended session: see above. I understand this is the restore of the complete backup ... a backup which was appended to a tape.

3) Full restore. Looks like they better change the order of all this. A Full restore just means a restore of a complete backup session. I understand that's just a backup session backed up to an empty tape (no append). It would be more logical and understandable if this was requested first and only after that the append session restore.

4) Tape drive sharing using Lock Names. Lock names are used to configure multiple logical (Data Protector) devices for one and the same physical device. You're requested to do that and start a backup on both logical devices to see that the session that is started last will wait for the first session to finish.

ok, that doesn't add up. If you just configure new store root, you don't have any stores, so old configured devices cannot be used and you need to create new ones. If you did this you can copy any new data out of those to some tape or other disk based device.

Then you can configure back the old root path and use your old device(s). Object's in this olde store(s) are not affected, the only negative effect would be discrepancy between objects in store that daily cleanup sessions tried to delete meanwhile and it had no access eg: media sessions with error "StoreOnce error: ObjectStore with specified key is not present" Support has scripts to sync store with IDB state to resolve this.

Do you start the backup from DP or from SAP side and with RMAN or BACKINT?

Could you login to Oracle from server side? (connect / as sysdba)

Where what do you set as backup command? (the variable %s)

Any chances on your environment? Does the backup run before?

MSL Drive status Yellow Icon

In the past few days, I have had a few media errors that have Marked the Media Red (poor) and the Drive Status Yellow. In the past I disabled the drive then re-enabled the drive and the status returned to normal (gray). I am running 9.05 with the latest patches. The Cell Server is HPUX 11.31 and the Media server is HPUX 11.31. I checked all logs and do not see a corresponding error that triggered the change of status other than the Session log showing a problem with the media. Thanks, Tommy
