If you have Backup Navigator as a client of a cell server with ECC turned on, be sure this client has ECC turned off and is listed as an exception. Backup Navigator will not function if ECC is turned on for this client.
I was able to get the 9.06 patch bundle, but sill no luck gett through the SSL/SSH issues
just wondering because previously we are able to restore using the same setup, what change?
is there a DP patch or build that may have affected the restore?
HI I am implementing DP with store once
Backups using a max of 2 gateways work fine but if I try to add more than 2 , when I run the backup the third device fails and send this error message
[Major] From: BSM@pipdcdpr001.pfgmexico.principal.com "Pipdcdbp005_Full_Diario" Time: 25/05/2016 01:16:34 a. m. Got error: "StoreOnce error: StoreOnce device offline, network error occurred or secure communication failed while contacting the StoreOnce device" when contacting "PIPDC_StoreOnce_vmware_01" B2D device!
Do you know if I have to set a special variable or configuration to use more than 2 storeonce gateways at the same time?
I will wait for you rkind answer

As far as I know now changes in this way, I guess that soemthign into backup configuration\concurreny or drives configuration has been changed.
Best Regards
Do you use source side deduplication it limited to two parallel connection to the store.
You need to also check
a) Device properties -> settings - max number of connections per store
b) gateway properties -> settings -> advanced -> max nuymber of parrallel streams per gateway
could you attach full session report from the session with error. Also what's the storeonce? Is it software storeonce, VSA or some of the StoreOnce B* hardware devices
Hi KloppYNWA69,
this will work. ARS is a point to point configuration. You can mix and match as you wish. You can have fan-in, fan-out, unidirectional or bidirectional replication. I would recommend that the additional Cell Manager that sits in siteA has a dedicated Catalyst store on the StoreOnce 4700 in siteA for the backup. The foreign Cell Manager from siteB must be imported to the cell. The replication destination store on StoreOnce 4700 in siteB could be either the one that is already used or a dedicated one. I would recommend to use a dedicated Catalyst store.

There is no CLI command for that, but a simple workaround exists.
You need to create two logical instances of the same device (make sure the same lockname is used). Lets say you have a logical device named LTO6 and one named LTO6_EJECT. Make sure LTO6_EJECT has the Eject media after session option checked. Use LTO6 for all backups except the last one. The last backup job should use LTO6_EJECT. Does this work for you?

Hi Maryfer68,
could you please open Devices & Media => Devices => Your B2D Library => Stores and Gateways. There you can select all available Gateways and use the Check button on the right. Are all Gateways capable of reaching the Deduplication system specified? (Status OK)

Hi dpx,
instead of doing a mirror between a local disk and a SAN LUN I would recommend doing proper IDB and file system backups of the Cell Manager. But this is up to you.
You can install the VEPA agent on any supported Windows or Linux host. This could be a Cell Manager, but any other client will also work. The VEPA agent is used as the backup proxy. It reads the VM data either via Network (NBD, NBDSSL from the ESXi service console network) or via SAN (in case VMFS data stores are exported to the host where the VEPA agent is installed). There is a thrid option, where VEPA is installed on a VM. In that case Hotadd (VMDKs added to the VM while backup is done) is used. If the VEPA host is a VM you can only write to StoreOnce via LAN (StoreOnce Catalyst over IP, iSCSI VTL, CIFS/NFS).
Make sure the VEPA host has enough power to read and write the data. Having plenty of fast CPU Cores and Memory helps.

thanks Sebastian.
yes I just needed confirmation that ARS would support multiple siteA cell managers into one SiteB.
Yes we would create seperate stores on both StoreOnce's for cell manager 1 and 2 at siteA and the replicated ones for siteB. Best practice I think plus keeps data types seperate too.
I see you know how it's done properly. Please mark this topic as resolved.

Hello,
I try to configure a federated FC catalyst store in DP 906 /108 . The sore is federated over 4 nodes and up and running on the StoreOnce side. node 1 WWPN is presented to the server. On the DP side when I configure the new store, no problem sins to the configuration validation. I get the error that the store is offline, and in the device Summary windows I show effectively the COCF whit offline status. I found no documentation explaining how to set up federated store over FC.
Do any body have experience whit this?
Many thanks in advance
Hi XB9,
StroreOnce Federated Catalyst distributes the load across the service sets part of the federation. This means if a Federated Store spans 4 service sets you need to make all 4 nodes accesible to the Media Agent server not just one. F1 help and Deduplication.pdf hold details on device configuration.

I have a system with an NFS mount. When I perform a full backup it works but a subsequent incremental backup will fail with the following: "The BMA Named ...blah blah blah ... on host ... blah blah blah reached its inactivity timeout of 8400 seconds. The agent on host will be shutdown.
It doesn't make sense to me that a full backup would work but not the incremental.
(Data protector A.09.00, build 102)

Hello Sebastian,
Thanks for your answer, I agree whit you, making all the service set available, unfortunately in the configuration windows for catalyst store, I am not able to add the same server for every nodes wwpn, event if they are zoned to the server.
In the document, federated-catalyst-TTE-final3 from Rothery Harris/Craig Driscoll, October 2014, there is written for (IP)configuration, that every nodes IP in the federation have to be added, unfortunately this doesn’t work for IP configuration nor for WWPN.
I have tray to set up several gateway and device whit omniupload, but this doesn’t work.
I my opinion we should be able to add in the store config the same server whit all the different node WWPN, at this time deduplication is not involved.
Many thanks for your answer.

Hi.
I'm trying to understand the relationship between DP and SO (VSA especifically) when the form a relationship.
Right now we are testing DP version 9 in our lab, we are looking for a backup software that allow us to recover from a server failure, I mean the operating system, installed application and configuration.
Sadly the image disk of DP isn't working as expected but that's another issue.
We already have DP in our production enviroment so was easy the implementation, also DP its a very straight forward product, but then came alone StoreOnce.
So about StoreOnce VSA is the product that I have some questions unanswered, so lets hope you you can help me out.
1. What would SO VSA allow me to accomplish concerning DP?, right now we are going to use DP as a File Library, we are sending the Backups to a LUN.
2. If the SO VA its used as a Dedup 'device' what is the purpose of the 1TB HDD assigned to this VM?
3. What should I configure on the SO VA, a Catalyst store, a NAS, a VTL or what?, bearing in mind that DataProtector has been configured as File Library.
Those are my question for now.
Hope somebody can please point me in the right direction to learn a little more.
Regards
Hi Roland,
Data Protector A.09.02 and later is able to handle Federated Stores transparently. From a configuration point of view you need to enter just one entry point into the StoreOnce unit (choose one of the service sets VIPs or WWPNs). When performing the configuration check or the backup a connection to each participating service set must be available from the Media Agent. Data Protector is able to retrieve the members of the federation. The list stores button should help. There is no manual configuration that must be done using omniupload/omnidownload.

Seems the tree walk takes too much time. Not sending data across makes the agent terminate. You could increase the timeout or disable all unnecessary tree walks. Upgrading to A.09.06 (or A.09.07 when its out) should also make things more stable (in general) while fetching the file list for the incremental can be quite time consuming depending on the file system layout and network throughput.
