Oracle Database backup - Cannot start program /opt/omni/lbin/ob2rman.pl

Hi guys,

There is a problem when I try to start an oracle database backup from my Data Protector v 7.03, It showsmethe following error

[Critical] From: INET@exadb01.entelsn.local "" Time: 24/08/2016 08:00:02 a.m.
[70:15] Cannot start program '/opt/omni/lbin/ob2rman.pl' ([4] Interrupted system call) => aborting

The INET agent is unable to execute the requested agent. The error
message indicates the reason as reported by the OS. The program exists but
it cannot be executed.

- I verified that the Data Protector product is installed correctly on the host.

HP DP GUI painfully, painfully slow

We are on DP 9.06.  My CM is a rx6600.  When I go to to do most anything in the GUI it takes forever or I end of closing and restarting.

I am constantly living with the (Not Responding).   There HAS to be a way to speed this up or debug why it is so PAINFULLY slow.

 

Ideas?

On another machine (also with GPT) I don't have this problem with GPT!

Media Pool filters

Hello,

Is it possible to change GUI "Devices & Media -> Media -> Pools" filter settings for them to stay permanent?

At the moment "Items per page" is always 50, I want it to always be 500. I have a lot of media pools and media therefore I always have to change it to a larger value.

How to change it for it to stick to the larger value?

Hi Sebastian,

Here is information:

additional info: with this error below i got a 6 digit number which is exactly 3par System ID [when i converted from hex to decimal] ""Storage systems with following serial numbers are not found on the RMC server"

like this -->          Private Info Removed

3par storage : System Model       :          HP_3PAR 8440 , OS version 3.2.2.(MU2)

RMC Software Revision                         2.0.2-1618.2

Licenses are installed on 3par:

Recovery Managers

Recovery Manager Central - Permanent 

Recovery Manager For Vmware Vsphere - Permanent

Virtual Copy - Permanent 

Virtual Lock - Permanent

Remote Copy - Permanent

Question : is there any additional configuration in cell manager for RMC? apart if i just added RMC server configuration through omnidb?

Hi,

It slow on which actions – and what is the size of data behind such slow query?

Omnirc OB2_DNSTIMEOUT may help in some cases (set on Cell Server).

Hi Kaspars,

while there are open enhancement requests for this, there is currently no way to make the item per page setting permanent. I usually recommend removing the Default pools if they are not actively used.

Hi Hansi,

my experience is that you should never focus on subsequent errors, since most of the time they are caused by the previous ones. Since this is functionality is currently not supported we can only cross our fingers that GPT disks and ZDB will be supported in a future version. If you need it urgently you should ask the HPE sales team to prioritize the existing enhancement requests for this.

Please perform a push upgrade to this client. This will make sure all components are properly installed. Verify the file /opt/omni/lbin/ob2rman.pl exists on the client and check rpm -qa | grep OB2 if the Oracle package is installed.

Hi Vince,

can you confirm that you have only actively reachable clients in your Data Protector Clients list (cell_info file)? It is key that the client system (where the GUI is running) is able to contact the clients. This means if some of the clients are only reachable if they exist in /etc/hosts on the Cell Manager this must be the case for the client where GUI is running, too. As  mentioned there are omnirc parameters that might help. They should be placed on the Cell Manager. 

# Enables/Disables DNS Reverse Lookup for xSM
OB2IPCREVERSELOOKUP=0

# Reduce DNS timeouts from 30 to 3 seconds
OB2_DNSTIMEOUT=2

Hi Sebastian,

Thank you for your answer.

Removing the Default pools would not be enough and I have a lot of media so it would not help.

So, I will have to wait and hope that they can fix it in some future release.

I'm really frustrated that this bug/behaviour is still not fixed. I'm trying to setup replication and run into problems, thus I've to restart the replication job a couple of times. The jobs are shown as aborted in DP but are still repicating between both devices with 2,5 GBps for hours. The only way to stop replication is to go into StoreOnce GUI and cancel every job one by one.

What Data Protector version (omnisv -version, omnicheck -patches) are you running at the moment? What firmware is on the StoreOnce? Can you share the reason why you need to restart the replication spec multiple times? Is there an agent crash or something different?

I upgraded from 9.06 to 9.07_110 yesterday, and this exact error was what was waiting for me this morning when I got in.

I've logged it with Support to provide the hotfix.

Error :Unknown SSL protocol error in connection to host:7116 on HPDP 9

Dear all,

 

I have recently upgraded my DP from 7 to 9 and after the upgrade when i am trying to connect to the CM through HPDP client i am getting the below error

"Unknown SSL protocol error in connection to odsapdb1:7116"

Upgrade went succesful without any error.

DP 9.04 with 28 hot/site specific patches. SO FW 3.13.3.

For example the replication I'm currently trying to set up from a 4500 to VSA is not working and gives me errors. If this errors occure I know that this replication is useless and want to try different settings. But the session keeps on running for hours. I also had issues where I accidetally added wrong clients to a replication job over WAN which also ran much longer than desired and utalized the line to it's max (I set a bandwidth limit then).

I just expect an abort to be an abort.
