Is the GUI running A.09.07_110 patches, too? If yes and the issue is still there, you will most likely need to regenerate the certifcates as mentioned by .

Sebastian, I am observing this discussion and I have a question about the redistribution. You say move the DCBFs in the DB40 dir, do you mean the *.dat files or the Dirs themselves. I should not be having data go there, but it is. I would like to eleminate the DB40.

omnidbutil -list_dcdirs
Configured DC directories:

Allocation Sequence
     | Maximum Usage in MB
              | | Maximum Number of Files in Directory
                      | | | Minimum Free Space [MB]
                                        | | | | Directory
                                                                      | | | | |
===========================================================================
1 4096 10000 100 /var/opt/omni/server/db40/dcbf2
3 4096 10000 100 /var/opt/omni/server/db40/dcbf4
2 4096 10000 100 /var/opt/omni/server/db40/dcbf3
1 204800 100000 2048 /var/opt/omni/server/db80/dcbf/dcbf1
0 4096 10000 100 /var/opt/omni/server/db40/dcbf
4 204800 100000 2048 /var/opt/omni/server/db80/dcbf/dcbf4
0 204800 100000 2048 /var/opt/omni/server/db80/dcbf/dcbf0
3 204800 100000 2048 /var/opt/omni/server/db80/dcbf/dcbf3
2 204800 100000 2048 /var/opt/omni/server/db80/dcbf/dcbf2

Hi Tommy,

you need to move the *.dat files stored in the directories. Please make sure to run omnidbutil -remap_dcdir before and after. If you find any issues with the command, report back.

It is expected that new DCBFs also go into the "old directory" structure. This depends on how DCDirAllocation in the global option file is configured. This does not hurt, but it should be taken into account when removing db40.

Re: unable to restore... AES256 encryption

Well, it seems that while Linux checks to see if an IP is in use, DR-OS does not. Grrr.

What I did was to modify the recovery.srd file to replace "-encrypt aes256" with "-encrypt none". The restore is now progressing. There are notes in the output that drive based encryption is being used.

I'll file a support request asking why my modification enabled the restore to run.

Thanks for your assistance, Sebastian.

Re: DP and StoreOnce Catalyst -> Replication still running after abort in DP

Hi pirx4711,

this is what I had suspected. I can tell you that the abort of replication works well under normal circustances (takes some time as mentioned before) but you suffer different issues most likely related to locking issues of the StoreOnce slots in the Media Agent. At this stage the Media Agent has no chance to intercept. To be honest most of those issues where fixed in the meantime and it is time to check how many of your hot fixes are incorperated into general release patches and prepare for an upgrade. This is the only chance I see.

A few days later now and HPE is still reviewing debugs to determine if the hotfix really applies to our problem.  The lab will not release the fix unless they are positive it is applicable.  Hoping for some good new soon on this one.

Hi dpx,

please refer to the Data Protector QuickSpecs for details on available product numbers. ZDB/IR or GRE are not covered by the licenses you've mentioned. You should find the required details in the QuickSpecs.

After much debugging HPE has verified that our issue is in fact related to DP0907_B109_QCCR2A69503_HF1.  I am in the process of obtaining the hot fix today and once I can work through our change control process to identify a time to apply it I will update this thread on the outcome.

Hi Brian,

it will do. I've seen the same issue resolved by this hot fix.

Thanks Sebastian, you are spot on!  The hotfix which basically is just a replacement of omnitrig with a newer version immediately resolved the issue we were experiencing.

Now if there were only a cleaner more efficient way of providing debugs to HPE support...

Thanks a ton for the help!

Services UP but no response from Cell Manager

I have a serious problem in my Data Protector, after upgrading to version 9.07 the application is running out action intermittently.

When the error occurs, I can not open the GUI and also can not run any command via Prompt.

Interestingly, the services are all up and do not show any errors. In the event viewer it is possible to identify the following related to a DLL problem:

Faulting module name: KERNELBASE.dll, version: 6.3.9600.18007, time stamp: 0x55c4c16b

I'm open incident at HP but the team failed to solve. Someone has been there and can help me?

Thanks.

Hi,

If DP services are up and running – and all you observe is very slow response from services (ie “omnisv status” command takes ages to complete). Then you probably have some DP clients that are not accessible on network anymore.

To work around this you can set omnirc OB2_DNSTIMEOUT=1 on your Cell Server and restart services. However I would suggest that you find “faulty clients” and remove them from CS configuration.
