Hello JBasilio,
I looked at the file, that error does not show up for me.
It ends with:

Cannot connect to SMTP server CELLMANAGER.DOMAIN.NL!
Tried configuring a smtp server in the global options file, did not help either.
To me this sounds like the snapshot is not completing as you said the remove snapshot task is queued, meaning the create snapshot task is still running.
I'd try a few things:
1. Login to vCenter as an Administrator and test can you take and remove a snapshot of the VM manually?
2. Are you selecting the VM Backup Job to capture the memory file as well? Try removing this from the backups
3. Try logging into vCenter as the service account Data Protector uses to connect to vCenter and test creating snapshots manually
4. Do a test (not for long term use) and gave the Data Protector vCenter Account the Administrator Role and test again manually creating snapshots
5. Run the backup job again with the account having Administrator Role in vCenter
6. Import one of your ESXi Hosts directly into the client list using the root password and run a backup direct from the host, rather than via vCenter. Does that work?
That's where I would start.

To get to DP 7.01 you visit the HP Data Protector Website and download a trial and select version 7.01. I know the term "Trial" sounds scary, but it's the full installation and will upgrade your existing 7.0 and maintain your database, jobs, licences, devices, etc.

Hello Fellow DP Admins.
Has anyone encountered an issue with "Notifications" in DPv7.01 where by some notifications work (Email SMTP), like "MountRequest" but "NotEnoughFreeMedia" doesn't? I know I have setup the SMTP variables in the global file as I'm getting reports of the evening backups etc and some notifications, but the NotEnoughFreeMedia doesn't seem to be working.
Thanks for any help

Hi All,
We are running the Data Protector 6.20 Cell Manager and I need to do a restore of files of a given pattern over a period of time. Im trying to use the "Restore by Query" restore task of the DP GUI, however the results of the files found are being limited to a certain number. Given the pattern and date range, im expecting to have thousands of files in the list, however the result set is containing a lot less.
Is there a config setting or registry setting for the DP GUI that would limit the amount of files returned in such as search?
Any assistance or information on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Josh

Thanks. Appreciate your input.
I've followed the link and tried what's there but we're still suffering speedwise.
We're getting on average about 2GB / min direct from the media agent to tape, which to be fair is an improvment.
Pulling from other clients via the media agent drops to about 0.5GB / min on average.
It doesn't seem to be O/s or hardware specific, 3 of our agents are blades and 1 of them has terrible througput compared to the other 2, all of them on 2003 O/S.
Similarly we have differing throughputs from our 2008 O/S media agents.
I've tried increasing the block size to 512 and there has been marginal improvement.
There does not appear to be any common factor other than they are all using new DP agents. It worked fine before on 2003 server running DP 6.2.
I'm having other issues as well but this speed issue is causing havoc!
Is there anything else we can try?

Thanks for the info. It looks liek I wil have ti reinstall beginning with 5.5. The program files/data protector/bin folder is pretty much empty. Me and my team mate discussed it and that old box can wait. One with the new box and new backups.
Thanks for all the info.
Hi, The docs are not HP designed, they are other vendor with another backup software.
In this case, the NDMP remote is not suported for this storage in found this information in the manual of X9720:
The NDMP backup feature supports the following:
NDMP protocol versions 3 and 4 Two-way NDMP operations
Three-way NDMP operations between two X9300/X9320/X9720 systems
Thanks a lot.. Diogo
Hi,
After a lot of time, the problem was solved
> Adding this variable in the MA:
OB2IPCNOSENDRECVLOOP=1
OB2SHMIPC=1
> Adding this Windows configuration in all Windows Servers:
netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled
> Change the configuration of drives:
Disk Agent Buffer Size: 16 to 8
Block Size: 64 to 256
After all this, the backup with mirror down from 7 hours to 4 hours.
Hey All,
Continuing on from the above, I managed to find a setting within the global data protector file that indicates that it may be limiting the results. However adjusting this setting doesn't seem to impact the result set size that the GUI shows for "Restore By Query" task.
# DBMaxFilesFound=NumberOfFiles
DBMaxFilesFound=50000
# default: 500
# This limit is used by the Data Protector file pattern search
# function. Data Protector will stop searching for files when
# more than <NumberOfFiles> files matches the specified search
# pattern.
Anyone have any further information on what the above setting effects or how i can increase the result set of the restore by query restore task?
Thanks in advanced for your help.

Hi all,
I am experiencing a problem where my session reports have stopped sending. I have configured SMTP and it has been working for the last 6 months since yesterday there have been no reports sent out.
All I would like to know is where can I get the log to see if there are any error messages from an email sending point of view.
Any assistance would be much appreciated.
Karlo
Hello Members,
I am trying to automate some tasks by putting these commands in a script and the truncated values are causing havoc.
example.
[root@linux ~]# /opt/omni/bin/omnidb -winfs server.com:/C 'C' -session 2013/07/18-45 -catalog
Protection Owner Group Size Time Path
===============================================================================
d----w---- -2 nogroup 0 07/18/2013 01:00:29 /Directory/
----r----- -2 nogroup 3621799557 07/18/2013 09:17:26 /Directory/subdirectory/bigfile12345
----r----- -2 nogroup 568761344 07/18/2013 04:06:42 /Directory/bigfile234567
----r----- -2 nogroup 1504827392 07/18/2013 01:03:36 /Directory/bigfile3456789
----r----- -2 nogroup 1116760064 07/18/2013 01:26:02 /Directory/bigfile4
Though the $COLUMNS variable automatically changes according to the size of my terminal window, Dataprotector commands seem to have a fixed $COLUMNS value irrespective of the terminal window size.
Above, the "Size" column gets truncated. (due to lack of columns?).
The "/Directory/subdirectory/bigfile12345" is actually 36 GB but if you take the above value, it comes to 3.6 GB. The DP GUI shows perfect values, but I specifically need to use the CLI here.
And note - here, the paths of the backed-up files continue beyond the header.
I have tried explicitly setting the $COLUMNS variable then running this command - with the same results.
export COLUMNS=200
echo $COLUMNS
omni...
I have also tried putting these commands in a script and redirecting its output to a file - exactly the same results.
Anyone who faced similar problems? Any solution or workaround or alternatives?
Thanks in advance :-)
BTW, We are currently using HP Data Protector A.07.00 on Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.8
Hi
Is there anyway to get DP8.0 to send out its HTML reports embedded in an e-mail rather than as an attachment?
Thanks
Team ,

Hi
This is possible so it must be done manually
1º Run command omnidownload -libraryLibraryName-fileLibConfig...save a copy of Libconfig file
2º Edit libconfig file and rename path for files that you want move for example X:\tape_001 to z:\tape001
3º Move fd files from one disk to other disk cut\paste
4º Run comamnd omniupload -modify_library Library -file LibConfig for modify library configuration.
About file depot selection is controled by MMD process and can not be controlled manually. The theory says that file depot with more free space will be used.
