Of course, otherwise you won't be able to read the tapes. You also need to transfer the encryption keys there.

hi all

i've reinstalled DP, removed the omniback folder prior the installation and also from registry.
i've got an improved result, which i can telnet to port 5555 from neighbor server, but seems still failing from cell server..
after reinstalled, i tried to import the client to cell manager, and this is what i get
12:1634 cannot connect to host
I am now lost of idea of what to do next
please advice guys
Hi Dennis,
Thanks for the reply.
1. what is the location for encryption keys?
2. Any performance issue on drive based encryption?
3. Can I restore incremental backup on DR site which is having standalone TApe drive or I need a MSL library to restore?
Appreciate your support.
Regards,
Hello,
If you are running Windows 2008 R2 try to start the omniinet service on client using a domain account and , on the Cell Manager
use the command line :
omniinetpasswd -add User@Domain Password
( user: account name / domain : domain in which account had been created / password: user's one )
you can verify using omniinetpasswd -list
Try to install client again using this account.
Hope it will help.

Hi Folks,
I am trying to deploy the web plugin for VMware/GRE on a vCenter server running under Linux (SLES).
I downloaded the OVF template for Linux from VMware and my client wants to use that.
I read and studied carefully the integration guide, but somehow, the war files for the tomcat instance are just not getting installed on the vCenter server.
Any ideas or limitations?
I checked out another client of mine and their cell manager is running on Windows and from there I can select the web-plugin for deployment.
I have never read in the support matrix that vCenter under Linux is not supported.
Thanks
I have DP 7.0 and I want to restore an VMWare server into a testenvironment. I restored the VMware server to a directory named "Restore". After that I have 4 files, in the restore-directory. The file "Servername.vmx" and in a folder „Servername“ the 3 files "scsi0.meta", "Servername .vdmk" and "Servername-flat.vdmk"
First I copied the files to the VMware datastore and browsed to the Servername.vmx file to import the virtual machine – no sucsess
After that I have to import the machine with a Vmware Converter Standalone – no sucess.
How can I restore a VMware Server to my test-environment?
(I prefered a restore without the VMware Converter, only import the .vmx file.)
I have checked the support matrix. EADR with RHEL 5.10 is supported and I had taken full backup
Hi Stefan
Do you use the virtual applicance?
There is a note in the support matrix for GRE:

would you mind to tell us what the problem was? maybe someone else does run into the same problem...
Hi, I need help.
Upgrade DP 6.10 to DP 8 is not possible.
Is there any supported procedure to export old IDB and import in new IDB 8 ?
TIA and best regards
Jose
This is going to have to be done in 2 steps, to upgrade to DP 6.21, or DP 7.x, then, upgrade to 8.1, since there is no direct upgrade path from 6.10 to 8.x
Also, check the Platform Support Matrix for DP 8
http://support.openview.hp.com/selfsolve/document/KM00453104
to be sure that teh platform that you are plannig up upgrading is supported with DP 8
No and No
DP 8 makes use of a new Internal Database type, that runs on postreSQL. It is not compatable with the old IDB unless it is migrated
I suggest that you upgrade to DP 7, and make sure that it is stable, before you consider upgrading to DP 8, which is having plenty of issues
i would also suggest update to 7.0 and then install patch 7.03. it runs stable.
then wait until 8.1.1 is going to be released... hopefully most of the issues with 8.1 are fixed then...

Chapter 4
Please prepare both the upgrade to DP 7 and DP 8 in a manner that you will assume the upgrade will fain, and that you will beed to go back to the previous version by saving your Configuration files
UNIX:
/etc/opt/omni/server
Windows 2003
Program Files -> Omniback -> Config -> Server
Windows 2008
Program Data -> Omniback -> Config -> Server
and stopping Data Protector, and saving a copy of the IDB
UNIX
/var/opt/omni/server/db40
Windows 2003
Program Files -> Omniback -> db40
Windows 2008
