The method (#2) described above was unsuccessful.
I suspect that IDB issues have been caused by the initial failed upgrade and subsequent IDB restore operation.
I am now attempting to perform a re-install of 8.10 with the existing DP files in place ... and will select the "Upgrade the Database" option in the installer.
