Hi,

After you create the backup specification(bar list), You can configure the VM to use SAN transportation mode.

You can also select default "fastest available" which will use  SAN/HOTADD if they are available.

So connect your backup host and ESX to the same ZONE in the SAN switch to use SAN transport.

With DP 8/9 it is very well possible. I think With patches, 603 also capable of doing it. but WITH DP 8/9 you will get more advanced features.

Note: Transport mode should be selected seperately for each VM.

How: Select the backup properties. I the right side object list pane, Right click on the VM; Deselect "use default options"; Click on adavanced tab-> select transportation mode; Save; Run backup ->check transportation mode is showing as SAN.

Also you can do this y changing omnirc file: (copy and rename programdata/omniback/ omnirc.tmpl to omnirc)

Uncomment and change below line:

OB2_VEAGENT_RESTORE_TRANSPORT_METHOD=SAN

You can also change block size, according to your connection band width to 8MB, 16MB etc by changing omnirc file.

OB2_VEAGENT_BACKUP_DISK_BUFFER_SIZE=16MB

Cheers,

Nigil
