DP 6.11 is out of Support for a while, there are no new Patches for it.

With a valid HP Passport Account and Software Support contract you can login to https://softwaresupport.hp.com/ and download the last Patches (May 2012) from there.

Sounds more like something the Daily Maintenance would do. The IDB-Backup itself does not delete anything from IDB.

Maybe you have set KeepObsoleteSessions set in your global-File, that can explain the behaviour.

# KeepObsoleteSessions=NumberOfDays

# default:  30
# This global option controls  how many days  obsolete  sessions
# (restore sessions, backup sessions which never had any  valid
# media, and media management sessions) are kept in the database.

We haven't detected any problem with the server's hardware. The errors occur sporadically, at times we are not monitoring systems.

Are you sure the error is related to memory problems?

Thanks in advance.

You have at least formating issues with your output, could you please post a clean one again? (September instead of Set and so on)

The IPC Errors can be contered by setting up something like this in omnirc-File on Cell- and Media-Server:

OB2IPCKEEPALIVE=1
OB2IPCKEEPALIVETIME=900
OB2IPCKEEPALIVEINTERVAL=60
OB2RECONNECT_RETRY=3600

With properly working Network this shouldn't be required but with slow Servers or Firewalls in between it helps.

First, find if the Backup session is still protected.  You can do this from the Internal Database context by getting properties of the Backup sesison,.  Or, if you know the Backup session ID, you can run

    omnidb -session [session_id] -detail         Do Not include the [   ] marks

If the sessin is Not Protected, then the previous responder is quite correct, the Daily Maintenance removed the unprotected catalog

The previous command will also let us know if the session is still in the IDB.  If not, the media will need to be exported, and reimported (3-4 hour process), and immediately re-protected from the Internal Database context.

If the session is there, in the REstore context, make sure that your Interval is set to None, as opposed to some value.  For some reason, we have always had trouble with rEstores when teh Interval is set.

Then consider downloading and installing the DP 9.02 patch bundle, I know a lot of these type of problms have been corrected

I don't think that thsi has anything at all to do with the Internal Database.  The error

"Catalog not loaded, message # 7595 in September 11"

lathough I have never seen it expressed as 'September" means to me that the error is inidenfiable, in the sense that the error is not in our standard message catalog.  Are you sure the error is not something lie

"Catalog not loaded, message # 7595 in Set 11"

which makes more sense to me.  I checked both a DP 7 and a DP 9 cell using the 'omnigetmsg 11 7595' command, and found nothing.

YOu will probably need to create a case with the response center to have thsi analyzed

As long as you have a valid support contract, all DP documentation is available at thsi site

https://softwaresupport.hp.com/

You need to have a HP Passport account to log in.  Once you are at the site, pick The product Data Protector, and the version 7.0, and click Save.  On the left sie, expamd Manuals

If you already have DP 7 loaded, in the GUI< you can click Help -> Guides or Help > OnLine documentation (I forget when the terminology changed), and you will see PDF files containing all the documentation

Hi,

Try to install latest patches, if you have it, reinstall bundle 7,03 and update the client that you have problems.

"bad catalog access" = "this binary could not find the message text for the given message number in the application's nls message catalog for the given locale"

I fix this problem update patches, maybe some core are corrupted.

Exchange permission question

$

I've been googling this and finding either bad information or no information. I'm sure this answer is somewhere out there though.  I have a DP 9.0 environment and we need to start backing up an exchange 2013 environment. I need to know what exchange roles/permissions/groups need to be applied to our data protector service account to be able to perform these backups/restores. The minimum level of permissions would be ideal.

Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. If that the case I'm thinking to uninstall the agent for now and will install it back if there is any restore required. I'm quiet reluctant to spend times on something we no longer use.

Do you think its ok to do this?

For Exchange 2013 DAG it pretty much needs to be a Domain-Account with full Exchange Admin permissions.

The minimum you will need to keep is the CellServer with the Catalog-DB, a MediaServer that can access all Devices containing backed up Data and a Client to restore to.

All these Functions can be on the CellServer itself, depending on your current configuration you may need to keep more or reconfigure the Enviroment.

Hi, I am installing a cell manager on a SUSE 11 SP3 and got this error on 3 different SUSE 11 system:

Has tried to start hpdp-as manually and got this from nohup.out:

What does the Install-Log say (/var/opt/omni/server/log/DPIDBsetup_7283.log)?

Had similar Issues during installation, turned out to be Permission-Errors on some Files and Folders.

Log should show more details.

Thanks for the reply.

From the log file I do not see any help there( not an expert). I have checked those directory where it say chmod and they are ok.

Internal db are running but not the Application server.

I think I need to open a case for this.
