I do see forum threads talking about this vulnerability for previous versions of DP. The link below doesnt not mention "version 9.x on windows server" as impacted version. But Nessus was able to run "ipconfig" by exploiting this vulnerability.

The resolution mentioned in the link is not detailed.
Apparently, you have to use omnicc -encryption -enable hostname1.company.com along with -cert -key and -trust parameters.
In one of the examples it shows "hpdpcert.pem" being used. Will default work? Is this going to impact any jobs and backup data that's currently out there. AND is there an easier fix/patch for this?

I enabled the ECC for the cell manager and all the clients. Chose "hpdpcert.pem" for Certificate Chain, Private Key, and Trusted Certificate.
After that tested the backup. And the job fails with the following errors.

[90:64] Cannot unload exchanger medium (StoreOnce error: StoreOnce device offline, network error occurred or secure communication failed while contacting the StoreOnce device)
Good news is the vulnerability was mitigated but the bad news is the backup jobs fails when closing the connection to the backup disk subsystem that has storeoncesoftware component installed.

AFAIK you can only configure the Values that trigger a Notification but the Content and Format of the Message is fixed.
Same applies to Reports, what the Report should cover is customizable but Format is fixed to predefined Options (Tab, HTML, ASCII, etc).
If you need the Data reformated this has to be done in your Script-Logic.
To free space reduce the Retention or expire Sessions that are not needed anymore. Once all Objects on a FileDepot are expired the whole DepotFile will be removed during the next Backup using the FileLib.
Personally I'd use FileLibrary as a Staging-Ground only, f.E. to aggregate smaller Jobs like TransactionLog-Backups or to keep them accessible quickly for a while. For Long-Term Storage it's best to copy the Data to one or more Tapes and to expire successfully copied Objects in FileLib. We use Scheduled Copies to migrate all Data older than 1-2 Days, keeping only most recent (and most likely used Data) on Disk.
Encrypted Control Connection is a B*tch and doesn't work with all Integrations and apprarently also not always with StoreOnce.
Add the StoreOnce Host to the ExceptionList (omnicc -encryption -add_exception Hostname1) or disable ECC alltogether.
Adding the backup landing zone host (one that has storeoncesoftware component installed) to the exception list of cell manager worked. Thanks!

Running HP DP V9.0 on Windows 2008 Cell Manager. I have a Linux client serving as a Linux Installation server as well.
When I push out DP backup agents to Linux servers from the GUI using the Linux IS there are times when the it works flawlessly and agents get installed. Connection method is "SSH". Sometime on some Linux servers even after IS connects to it using SSH the installation hangs while "copying utilities". It never completes and I have to abort it and install locally using "omnisetup.sh"
Is there a document where it explains what steps or commands (flow) the installation is doing when you push agents from the GUI? After it connects to client is it using rsync, sftp, ftp, rexec. I don't have access to that Linux server or I am too familiar with Linux OS but system admin would like to know what DP is doing in more detail when it tries to push agents to the clients. Is there a DP debug log I can look to see why installation is hanging.

OK, this is getting more interesting with v9. I haven't turned on ECC yet, even though our security crew would like me to.
So I already know that the VM integrations don't work with ECC based on other threads out here, now I can't use it talking to a StoreOnce device? Is that over the network or would that be on fiber as well?

ECC only Encrypts the ControlConnections and those are always via Network.
DataStreams are only encrypted if you use Client sided Encryption Option.
VMware Integration (VEPA-Agent) should work with ECC, just the Granular Restore Extension does not work if I'm not misstaken.
If your Network uses multiple Interfaces (f.E. dedicated BackupLAN) and/or lacks fully functional DNS Resolution (especially ReverseLookup) the ECC Feature may cause additional trouble.
Only try it if you have access to the Config-Files (/etc/opt/omni/client/config and /etc/opt/omni/server/config), in my experience that is the only way to get rid of it once something doesn't work as expected.
Have you selected the Properties of the Database (Top Element) or the Database-Objects (Bottom Element after PRIMARY)?
On latter you only get the Version and Options Tab, the former also has the Advanced-Tab.

The InstallServer Logs everything to /etc/opt/omni/log/IS_install.log, but it only contains the same messages you'll get in GUI.
The documentation on how the Installation works is very sparse and the Guide on how to use Public/Private Key is simply unusable. Main hurdle is usually that SSH-Install requires root to be allowed Remote login via SSH, taking another user and executing the Install via sudo is not possible.
Best chance to get a better insight is running the Push-Install in Debug mode, either from GUI or manually from IS (f.E. ob2install -input <file> -server <host> -debug 1-200 dbg.txt)
