It may not be relevant but I've seen DP get confused when a tape was put into a slot that was only empty because the tape that should have been there was in a drive.
Putting the tape into another slot and doing another barcode scan fixed the problem.

Hi All
Iam issueing the following command in test with a view to creating a Pre-Exec script for my tape formatting automation requirement.
I have the following:
omniminit -init "my_tape_library" -slot 21 -force -
barcode_as_label
It appears to work okay but then fails with:
[65:61] Medium is still under protection => recycle medium.
[65:64] Initialization denied.
I have included the -force basic option but it complains about recycle medium.
Can anyone offer any comments?

This type of problem tends to occur on virtual libraries experiencing san polling. If medium header is wiped out and then same cartridge is formatted and reused there is a "ghost" media left over with same barcode and no location

Dell ULT-3580 Tape is Connected but Drives and Slots are not showing in HP Data Protector. It is showing only the Tape Name but not showing Slots in Tape.

In Device Manager Tape Drive is showing but in HP Data Protector Medias are not showing. It is showing some error, there is no media's.

Configuration
Three Red Hat Linux Virtual Machines clustered.
The three Linux Virtual Machines systems in the cluster shared a single ESXi host.
A database application each night dumped the database data to a directory on a separate disk.
Data Protector 8.x did a simple file level backup of the dump directory.
Problem
Every night, for random different files, there were errors

Solution
After changing the configuration so each of the three Linux Virtual Machine systems, in the cluster, had their own individual ESXi host, the backup worked each night without error.

Little bit lost on what device you are trying to set up
in the text you say "Dell ULT-3580"
in one screen capture it shows "HP ULT 3580-HH5"
and another screen capture it shows "IBM ULT3580-HH5"
Looking at the Dec 2015 HPE Data Protector 9.0x Device Support Matrix, for Dell devices I can only find
Dell PowerVault LTO-3 -60 Supported with 32 bit Windows
Power Vault ML6000 Series Most Operating System
PowerVault TL2000 Supported with 64 bit Windows
There are lots of entries for "3580" drives, but all IBM.
I'd say the Dell version is not currently supported by DP 9.0.
Other ideas
- For HP devices, they can be tested locally with Library and Tape Tools (LTT), maybe Dell have
equivalent software you could load on the Server and check that can see the devices OK?
- Does `devbra -dev` run on the server show the Robotic and Drives.
- If using "Autoconfigure", instead of using that, try configuring it manually.
If you need more help, suggest
Let us know the LTO type, eg. LTO 1-6, or whatever.
What OS are you trying to attach it to ? 32 or 64 bit OS ?

Please find the above Tape Model & Will you please share me the Support matrix for HP DP 9 with Dell Tapes. Because we are using TL 2000 Tape but drives are IBM ULT 3580 HH5.
Previously we have used Symantec Backup Exe & Dell NetVault Backup softwares with the same Tape Drive at that time there is no issue. Now when i installed HP DP9 and added the Tape to HP DP Server. Now Media's are not detecting. Tape Device is showing in Device Manager.When i scan the Tape device in HP DP Cell Manager. It is showing an error. No Media's detected. Error(1112).
Please help me what is the exact issue.
