I noticed that directory D:\ProgramData\OmniBack\server\db80\pg\pg_xlog_archive grown to over 30 GB and I would like to know if those files are needed or is it safe to delete them.
How can I decrease the size of that directory.

Looked through your last video, and it seems that network issue is also fixed.
Can you try to just run recovery, without shutting down bond0? It should work without shutting bond0 down. Looks like eth6 up is not necessary. If problem remains, now you have SAID, and you can sumbit change request.

Hi,
Yes. We feel that Vmware CBT is not reliable as of now as there are reports of VM corruption and restoration error. Thus we are in the fix as we do not intend to enable CBT for all VM. We are using Vsphere replication thus snapshot can present on any VM periodically. This has deep impact as we progress to 9.04.
It is weird that HP done a major feature change in minor release (9.03 to 9.04) and there are no warning and not documented anywhere in the release note.
I have seen other enterprise backup allow the backup job to select between CBT or non-CBT backup per job. And my understanding from VMware consultant is that VMware CBT is required only if we are doing incremental backup. In our environment, we are performing only Full VM backup thus CBT should not be required.
Dont understand why HP refused to let us have a choice of non-CBT backup which was a major feature that we still stick to HP DP software. It seems like we may need to review our backup strategy and solution sooner than expected.

Hello, the safest way to get rid of archivelog files is to run Internal Database backup with option to delete archive log files.
When backup is finished, if any files older that the time of IDB backup are left, you can delete them.

Truncate Exchange logs with VEPA backup using Quiescence Snapshot
Does anybody how to configure the job or Exchange to truncate logs after a VEPA backup using the Quiescence Snaphot option ?
At moment no logs are truncated because Exchange 'thinks' that only a copy or differential backup is being made from the stores.

I had the same problem previously but to date I have not solved yet.
Given that after a while I found no solution I worked to write a program using the basic MS-DOS commands from Windows Task Scheduler and an email client called Third Blat.
I mention my solution:
In a file extension .bat I add these lines, the first 4 lines get the current date with a specific format, line 6 with omnirpt command generated a report to HTML exportable sessions within 24 hours and finally line 7 using Blat mailed the file DataProtector sessions previously generated in line 6.

Data Protector 9.0 Insufficient Permissions while Logging in GUI
When openning the GUI, it asks me for the username and password, but it is returning Insufficient permission, access denied warning message.
The username and password does work before. Is there anyway to reset it or creating a new one? Thanks!

Pre Exec Script
Hello!
I have a pre-Exec-Script running in a data-protector-job.
This Batch-script is calling another script.
Script1.cmd echo start start "" /wait Script2.cmd echo end
All is running fine, but the data protector job will abort after the defined time with "Failed".
How can I tell DP that the scripts end and the DP-Job can go further?

Exchange 2010 restore fails
We are running 9.05. I am attempting to perform a "files only" restore of an Exchange 2010 database. I am getting an error related to the Microsoft Exchange Writer(Exchange Replication Service) writer not being found. The server I'm trying to restore to does not have this writer. According to Microsoft this particular writer has nothing to do with restores (https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd876874%28v=exchg.141%29.aspx - The Microsoft Exchange Replication service VSS Writer doesn't support restores). Has anyone else ran into this? This seems like a bug unless I'm missing something. Why is the restore job looking for a writer that isn't used for restores?

Re: VMware backups total disk space or space used?
I wanted to provide the solution in case anyone else runs into this. We were using thick provisioning with eager zero. WIth those settings, DP will back up the entire volume, not just the data. Switching to lazy zero resolved the issue.

setup has detected an older version 00.00 of data protector
Good morning friends please their support, I have problems with the agent installation data protector 9 on a Windows Server 2008 32bit server operating system patch is applied as a prerequisite for installation, which is the patch (KB2748349). You try to install the agent but get error "setup has detected an older version of Data Protector 00.00".
He is explaining that before the version 7 data protector agent tapeworm, have reviewed the web and indicate clean the windows registry, and debugging entries with the name of "protecting", "omni", the OmniBack Program and ProgramData folders are purged files, but still the problem persists.
If you know of any additional input to be eliminated or please indicate if you have any recommendations to overcome this incident will be very grateful.

DataProtector 9 BMA.exe fails when trying to launch backup on Windows 2008

I encountered backup problem for one of the windows server.
DP version and server OS
Cell Server: DP version - A.09.0.2 (BDL902)
OS : HPUX 11.31
Client server: Media Agent version - DPWIN00717(BDL902)
OS : Windows 2008 Enterprise Server 32bit SP2
Problem
When lauching the Windows filesystem backup, the following error was prompted and aborted this backup job.

error while taking backup
Dear Sir/Madam,
we are taking a backup of our PRD server. however we are getting this error.
backup was working properly, sudenly it has started giving this error.
Cannot connect to Media Agent on system bkp1, port 49894 (IPC Invalid Hostname or IP Address) => aborting.

For to gets application (exchange) logs truncation you must run specific integration backup agent in this case e2010 agent integration. The use of quiescence option guarantee a solid point of restore but logs are not truncated.
If quiescence is selected, the snapshot process quiesces all the system writers, and the registered application writers. In Windows guest operating systems, the VSS framework freezes or quiesces the applications running in a virtual machine before a snapshot is created. Data Protector performs application-consistent quiescence every time the Use Quiescence option is selected for the backup.

Exchange integration agent doesn't work (anymore), it throws me a: [61:3001] Unknown message (code 314)
Most likley some DP code hase been scrambled, so it doesn't work anymore on certain versions of Exchange, Windows or .NET
I don't care and don't have time to run this through support.
Look. Every other backup Vendor on the world uses Application Aware snapshots for Exchange nowadays and are able to truncate logs afterwards.
So, I want to make it work with VEPA backups because I need consistent and succesfull VM backups with Exchange Stores and Truncated logs.
I will use VEEAM explorer to do recoveries whenever it is needed, this is not a very big Exchange server.
Shouldn't be that hard since every other backup Vendor can make it work.
