Installing Data Protector A.09.00 Cell Manager and Installation Server...
The required xinetd or inetd daemon is not installed on the client system...
Please help in this issue. and i want to install HPDP 9.0 Client on windows 7.
please provide what setup require for my installtion and configuration. between linux Cellmanager. Installation server and Windows Client.
Thanks
Umma REddy
Yes, thank you, that is the next step.
I've posted the question just in case somebody else had the same problem and managed to find a solution.
Thanks anyway
Hello,
For the error:
-- The required xinetd or inetd daemon is not installed on the client system...
You need to install the "xinetd" on the Red Hat server, usually the command will be:
yum install xinetd
Once is installed, try the Cell Manager installation again.
For the Windows Client Installation, you will need the Data Protector 9.0 Software for Windows, then, run the setup.exe and follow the wizard. If the Client can`t communicate with the Cell Manager, check the Linux Firewall status, sometimes is not correctly set, as a test you can disable it using the command: service iptables stop
To start it : service iptables start
Please include the Qualstar Library model, to check in the support matrix if the library is supported.

Hello Adam,
it seems like they wont support Windows 2003, 2008 32 bit anymore:
"Unfortunately Windows server 2003 is out of support for a long time both by HPE Data protector and Microsoft. About this failing upgrades we cannot assist any further. If Windows sever 2008 are 32 bit we can also not give any further assistance because they are not supported either by HPE Data protector."
Bute they're gonna check my Windows 2008 64 bit non R2 systems. Let's see what happens.
Kind regards
Guido
Great, let me know. I opened a case also but it really hasn't moved to anything that helps. I figure whatever fixes the problem for 2008 r1 64-bit will probably fix it for the unsupported as well. I wonder if a manual load of the Comodo root CA cert to the local host is the fix.
hi,
Check sofllink
spXXXprd01[RDMZ1]-/u01/app/oracle/product/12.1.0
> cd lib
>umask 000 (changed permitions)
> ll | grep libobk (check if you have soflink)
> ln -s /opt/omni/lib/libob2oracle8_64bit.so libobk.so (created soflink)
>ll | grep libobk
lrwxr-xr-x 1 oracle oinstall 36 Feb 29 15:27 libobk.so -> /opt/omni/lib/libob2oracle8_64bit.so
Do it in both server if you have a cluster.
Hi Guys
I've been getting the same error. I've already updated the CM and MA and all hosts to latest DP version (9.08) as instructed by HPE Support but still getting this issue. I've rebooted TL, CM and MA and it still happens. We're also seeing some copy jobs partially failing - it only started happening after we powered down the remote site for building maintenance (27-Nov-16). Prior to that it had been running without failures and on old DP version (9.04)

Can anyone point me to a resource guide to do SAN Free backups of my vm environment.
I am currently doing LAN Backups. I have a virtual vCenter server imported into Data Protector. From what I understand, I need to chose a host and install the media agents, disk agent, and virtual integration agent. Then chose that as my backup host from my backup spec.
Correct?
Do I need to create a new GW with FC selected?
unable to resolve the following issue while importing tape for restore.

aborting media
Hello
The reason for such behaviour could be mutliple but you can try avoid it using folloiwng global variable.
DbIgnoreCorruptedMaCatalog=1
Edit global file add this variable restart DP services and be sure that you export tape before import it.

Hello
I believe you are doing wrong questions, How much memory server has? How much bigger page file is?
I'm pretty sure that it is not enough big because error is coming from Windows not from DP, obviously if you select just one drive instead whole server workload is minor and backup works.
Check link below for to determine if your page file size is right.

Thanks Adam. We've checked the inet service and it's running as localsystem and the share is accessible and we can install from this location. Investigations ongoing :-)
Hi,
thanks for response.
The old cell manager is a windows 2003 and new cell manager is a windows 2012.
The directory copy method indicated, it's equal for barlists?
and for users (sap, oracle, lotus) involved, how i can proceed?
Thanks & Regards
Hi,
I'm adding a new catalyst store in cell manager but it accepts only one ip address while configuring a new store.
Is there any way to add multiple ip addresses in the device address?
ENV.:. cell manager 9.08, Storeonce 6500
I understood, if i add one ip address its automatically add Node2 ip address and can be seen in "members" of store.
I'm asking this question because i've many vlan's and if i can access a store with multiple vlan's.
Thanks,
Aman
Its not a MPIO device. The CoF devices will do multi-pathing (they show up in device manager)
Can the backup host be an ESX host? What agents are needed?
Disk
Media
Virtual Integration ?
to perform SAN direct backups you need to present the datastores to the media server as well. The agent will then detect the LUNS and perform a SAN backup, not a LAN backup...
If your media server is windows 2008 you want to make sure Windows doesnt write a signature to these datastores. Use diskpart to disable automount and also do a automount scrub as well.
Windows 2012 should be fine as is....
hope this helps!
Cant a ESX host (1 of 3) be the media GW? It sees all the luns already.
Hi T.Cooper,
ESX is not supported as a client, hence, you will need a supported Backup host listed in the support matrix and then present the datastores.
