Hi,
The KMS service seems to be down, I am unable to bring it up. I restarted the omnis services but still KMS is down. Will this service affect the funcationality of DP. I see that backups are running as usual, but in future will this affect any of the DP services like data restore or backups. Would like to know more about KMS service.

Any help of how to bring up KMS?
Thanks.
Thanks for that but I can backup a non-clustered MS SQL2014.
As you can see I was able to install clients and import the cluster, but I'm stuck in backup job creation.
Any ideas?
The OS ( Windows 2008 R2) on my Data Proctor machine is not stable and may need a re-install. Is there a chance i can get all configuration backup of DP which will in result can resotre all schedules and backup configuration of clients as it was before.
Please help as the DP is currently configured to backup Oracle and SAP databases with Unix Hosts.
Hi. I've a "little" problem with a customer. Theu uses an Ultrium with Data Protector Express 4 and 5 tapes (one for each working day). Unfortunatly, I don't know so well Data Protector...
They were infected by cryptolocker, so I tried to restore data from tapes (all backup reported as completed without errors), but I can't access to any tape. I tried to reimport the tape, to restore, to verify the support but nothing... Empty log and faulty operation. So I bring 4 tapes at office (I leave the fifth at the customer to make some other test), put an ultrium on a PC, tried with DP 4, 6 and 9 but I can't import any tape. I tried almost anything but it doesn't work. It works for 40-60 min on tape and it fail. With DP9 I've always the same error: "[90:54] Cannot open device (medium error.)"
If somebody have any idea...
Thanks
DP was upgraded recently from 8.13 to 9.08. Runs on a windows 2008 R2 cluster
since the upgrade, getting the following warning occur now and then....

are there any postgresql or global options worth considering?
or any other ideas???
Looks like the mmd process is down, please check it:

The customer uses Data Protector Express and you attempt to read his tapes with Data Protector?
This will not work, because they have a different (uncompatible) media format.
You will have to use Data Protector Express to read these tapes.
Hint: There is also forum for Data Protector Express:
https://community.hpe.com/t5/Tape-Backup-Small-and-Medium/bd-p/bsc-424
The DP internal database backup also backs up the cell manager configuration (that is stored in C:\ProgramData\OmniBack\Config\Server).
Oh.... Good. Thanks...
Easy life is not a valid choice for us...
Many thanks.
That works in my case.
Regards,
MMD is up as backup continues but we see these warnings from time to time. Could it be general utilisation and MMD isnt responding in the time frame for BSM ?
DP9.08 cell manager recovered into a test environment. Imported tapes, got client list in the cell so we can see all integrations. IDB restored so ready to go....
Have added a test hyper-v environment to restore to....
When performing a restore, or any restore we get this....

[Error Situation]
When Encrypted Control Communication (ECC) is enabled at Cluster Environment,
if DP services are restarted , CRS doesn't start up correctly although "omnisv -status" command shows CRS is "Active" .
Even if omnicc command is executed or DP GUI is started , CRS never responds .
If ECC is disabled , the issue doesn't occur even if DP services are restarted .
[Cause]
It is caused by a connection verification that was introduced as an extra security measure in 9.07 .
The issue will occur at Cluster environment because certificate Common Name(CN) doesn't match .
( CN is physical node name , but virtual name is used to communicate internally )
[Fix]
The issue will be resolved at DP9.09 .
[Workaround]
Set omnirc variable OB2_CONNECTION_CN_CHECK=0 on physical nodes of cell server cluster.
It will disable the additional connection verification as the same as 9.06 .
By disabling it , there is not any security risk .
Hello all,
we use NAS device (Fujitsu QR802) as data storage. We need to backup data from the storage to tape via HP DP. It's problem to install HP DP Agent on NAS. We use HP DP 9.07. Is it possible to solve it?
Thank you very much.
Hi All
VEPA backups are working perfectly and using SAN transport mode so the backups are nice and quick (and also shows our zoning, and Datastore/host presentation is configured correctly).
Can anyone please confirm whether I should be able to restore using SAN or only via LAN (NDB SSL).
My understanding is that our MA/VEPA servers currently see the Datastore Luns in an 'Offline Shared' mode, which is what we require for backup. But in a retsore scenario I wouldnt want these to become online due to the inherrent issues with this and there fact these are production Luns.
Do we just accept LAN (NBD SSL) as our restore method or am I missing something?
Any help would be appreciated..
Thanks.
Hello,
I was trying to install the HPDP client on HPUX server for taking the daily backup however, during the installation it is getting failed and giving below error:
Setup cannot continue, Installation of Data Protector Core packet failed.
I have found the solution for this issue here and fix the issue easily :)
