Quadix Support.
There is a setting you can change in the Global file. SmWaitForDevice.
The default is 60 minutes. I set mine to 300 and only get the occasional failure.

I have not used this, but have you tried quotes around the variables? Single quotes or double quotes would both be worth a try.
Good Luck!
There commands `omnicc -check_licenses -detail`, `omnicc -password_info` and `omnicc -query` will show how many DP drive licenses you have.
When you had that message, DP thinks you were trying to use more windows/linux drive licenses than you are licensed to use.
It waited an hour to see if a windows drive license came free (eg. another backup using a windows drive license finshed) but it did not. So DP aborted the backup.
If you think you have enough windows/linux drive licenses I'd suggest, as a first step
- Ensure no backups/copies/restores are in progress, eg. `omnistat` says "No currently running sessions.- Then reboot the Cell Manager.
After that, hopefully any rogue/zombie Media Agent processes holding licenses would be released.
[81:522] Cannot back up internal database because another database check in progress.
Cannot un-lock the keystore.
Solution
Ensure `omnistat` says “No currently running sessions”
Run `omnisv -stop`.
Move from /var/opt/omni/tmp
the file... dbcheck.keystore
Move any other dbcheck* files in /var/opt/omni/tmp
Move lic.ctx
from $HOME\OmniBack\db40\
Start DP `omnisv -start`.
The post-exec script is defined in the Backup specification so you control which backups it is run for.

Hello,
Can someone help me to find manual to hp data protector 8.1 please?
Will be very appreciated!
Hi,
There is a product DP 8.0 and a product DP 8.1. They have different manuals.
In the title of your question you've said "8.01" and in the text "8.1". Which do you need?
Regards, Stewart
Hi,
I'm sorry. My mistake. The correct version of product is A.08.10
Thanks in advance!
I've looked, but so far not found the manuals. I'll keep looking.
I have 2 possible workarounds
In case you have a DP 8.1 Cell Manager (CM) the manuals will be on the CM...
Windows:- \Program Files\OmniBack\docs Unix:- /opt/omni/doc
In case you want the 8.1 support matrices...
https://softwaresupport.hp.com/
Product Information - Matrices
expand "HP Data Protector"
Click on the "Support Matrices for HP Data Protector 8.1" version.
Thank you very much for your help!
I found them, go to https://softwaresupport.hp.com/
Select "My Software Support sign-in" and sign-in.
Dashboards
Manuals
On the left side of the screen, under Doument type "manuals" should be selected.
Under Products select "data protector".
Under Version select "8.1" - you need to scroll down to see 8.1.
On the right side you may see the DP 8.1 manuals.
Incase you do not see all the manuals it might be because "data protector" is not setup as one of your products in "Software Support Online".
If you have support with HPE for Data Protector then you should be able to have a "Software Support Online" account.
If you do not have support with HPE for Data Protector then you can not access the manual OnLine from HPE.
Thanks for the input.
I haven't tried up until now.
I just tried single quote and it doesn't change the result.
Double quote in GUI are refused.
Editing the rptgroups file show that the double quotes are added by default at the begin and end of the path.
Adding more double quote make the report disappear in the GUI.
Again, thanks for your help

Hey guys,
when i enable the source side deduplication which ports must be open for data transfer?
In omnirc file i found few variables which can be associated with the deduplicated data transfer:
#=========================================================================== # Variables which can be used for StoreOnceSoftware #=========================================================================== # # OB2_STOREONCESOFTWARE_COMMAND_PORT=1-65535 # Default: 9387 # The port on which StoreOnceSoftware daemon/service waits to receive # connections from MA. MA will have to use the same port in order to connect to # StoreOnceSoftware daemon/service. # # OB2_STOREONCESOFTWARE_DATA_PORT=1-65535 # Default: 9388 # The port on which StoreOnceSoftware daemon/service waits to receive # data from MA.
#=========================================================================== # Variables which can be used for StoreOnce Backup System #=========================================================================== # # OB2D2D_COMMAND_PORT=1-65535 # This variable changes the port which is used for command communication between the Media Agent and the StoreOnce Backup system. # For example: OB2D2D_COMMAND_PORT =12345 # Default: 9387 # # OB2D2D_DATA_PORT=1-65535 # This variable changes the port which is used for data communication between the Media Agent and the StoreOnce Backup system utility. # For example: OB2D2D_DATA_PORT=12346 # Default: 9388
Whats the difference between this four points?
Actual, we have a very strictness firewall between the client and the cellserver. And i get no connection to our StoreOnce device..
Got error: "StoreOnce error: StoreOnce device offline, network error occurred or secure communication failed while contacting the StoreOnce device"
Maybe someone can help :)
greetings,
chris
Hi Chris,
the first question would be: do you have a StoreOnce appliance trying to connect to? If yes, forget about the omnirc variables for the StoreOnceSoftware. When using Source Side Deduplication the Media Agent is installed on the system you trying to backup. Hence, the two ports are requierd and to be allowed to communicate over to the StoreOnce System.
The second question would be: Do you use Catalyst over FibreChannel or Catalyst over IP to backup the clients? If CoFC is configured for the Gateway and you are trying to backup a client without zoning with StoreOnce or without increasing devices per initiator port (on Windows), then in this case it is very likely to receive the error below.
If CoIP is to be used to backup the clients, you might check the gateway configuration and if for all listed clients the check will not provide any error.
If you provide more details, schreenshots, etc. I'm glad to help you finding the cause of the error message.
Best regards
Daniel
Hi,
Okay, thanks for your help. I see the next licences :
-------------------------------------------------------------------
1 Gestionnaire de cellule for Windows/Linux
1 Extension fo drive for Windows /Netware/Linux
1 Extension for save online of ONE system Windows/Linux
------------------------------------------------------------------
I change the "smwaitfordevice" to 300 min.
But, i don't understant because the error is : Number of licences "extension of drive for Windows/Netware/Linux" is inapropriate. I see one save in running state but the save during 3 days before abandonned. I think this save block the other save.
