This command only applies to B2D libraries such as StoreOnce.

Cleaning up a DFMF file library is one of the worst tasks. This is because a DFMF library creates stubs and cross references between the files in the depots to allow Virtual Fulls. Based on my experience a DFMF library becomes fragmented over time causing serious performance and capacity problems. If you have a chance, create a new regular File Library on the disks and redirect the backups there before you dispose the File Library. In general a new backup session will remove all slots (and related *.fd files) from slots with expired Data Protection. Manual removal of files is not recommended and will most likely render the DFMF library unusable.

Hi Hansi,

a partital restore of a Cluster Ressource (which is usually represented as a value stored in the Windows registry, not as a file) is not possible. While this information is backed up for complete restores (also used in EADR) this information can't be restored individually. Overwriting the cluster node registry seems to be the only way while I would prefer to recreate it manually.

You need to check the licenses installed (omnicc -check_license -detail and omnicc -password_info) and the tape drives configured in the Cell (omnidownload -list_devices). Usually the license checker is right. Drives licenses are concurrent. This means if you have 8 drives configured and 2 licenses installed only 2 drives can be used by the same or different sessions. If a drive becomes free, the queued operation will continue.

Please share the session report from the incremental restore attempt with us. Was the full and incremental backup successful? What backup media was used? What VMware release is this? Is this a restore to vCenter or ESXi?

If this is still Data Protector A.09.00 you should apply the latest patches (9.08 patch bundle) and check if the issue still exists afterwards.

Most likely the file config still exist on the Windows client that should be removed from C:\ProgramData\Omniback\Config\client. Based on your output ECC was at least disabled on Cell Manager for this client. Try to remove the file and make sure Data Protector INET service is running and reachable from Cell Manager (telnet msp0009 5555). If this fails, check debug.log and inet.log on the client msp0009.

Please share screenshot(s) from the GUI where we can see the IDB backup in Internal Database => Objects and during restore selection. Have you imported the right media with Log All and As Original? It might be useful to apply the A.08.01 patch bundle.

While OpenSuSE is not supported it should usually work with the regular Linux Disk Agent. Just make sure you have the xinetd running and other required packages installed.

You should be able to install the Agent from the Linux Media Kit (omnisetup.sh -install da) or push it from a UNIX Installation server (if it exist in your Cell). You can get the Media Kit from the My updates portal (requires valid SAID). Make sure to use the latest Data Protector patches from the SSO portal.

Please check if all required packages are installed. Refer to /var/opt/omni/server/log/DPIDBsetup_4973.log for details on the error. Run omnisetup.sh -Uninstall and omnisetup.sh -Delete and start from scratch after fixing the problem.

After installed DPWINBDL_00908  Data Protector 9.08 for Windows, serial number of IBM Ultrium drives are not recognized properly as seen from "devbra -dev".

Scan failed with:

[90:1004]           Device address not found.

Data Protector ( A.09.07 ), need help with CLI commands to report information of back-up sessions

Hi all,

As the reporting options in the GUI are rather restricted, I need some help to make some reports because of customer demands.

I would need reports of the Internal database objects, starting from the beginning, and the following information:

- Which path has been backed up

- Back-up session information

- Media ( on which tape it has been stored ) 

 

Is this possible with just CLI commands?

Update:

I was already able to display a full list of all the objects with it's session with omnidb -object -detail .

Is it possible to filter Object status on "Completed" so I can only see the good ones and not the failed.

Also all the properties from the "General" tab are displayed like Session, Size, Status, etc but I would also like to see the "Media" tab added with the tape number.

Re: Backup tape protection time

What you mean with, the tape was formatted as weekly tape?

You said you see no data but you can see the history, inside of what? You have to be more clear.

Have you tried to scan (reads the header) or to import the tape? For more information use F1 after select a tape.

 

You have to raise the protection time if you let the tape in the library and don't want to overwrite the backups for days "X".

Normaly if you move the tape out of the library with a protection of 30 days and put it back two years later without running any job that writes new data onto the tape, then you can restore your data two years later even the protection time was 30 days. If you unsure, use the hardware lock of the tape to prevent writing to tape.

Failure of Encryption Key export

Hi,

I am using DP 9.04 and i will export the encrypted keys on daily basis. I found that few days back export of keys using command omnikeytool -export csvfile -all was not exporting the new keys in .csv file.

can someone able to help me on this.

I assume you didn't create the schedule below then?

If you want incrementals mon to thurs, in teh schedule tab click "add" at the bottom

Then in the pop up select weekly, choose your time etc and tick boxes mon, tues, weds and Thurs, Change backup type to incr and backup protecion change teh amount of retention you'd like

then click ok. and it should fill out the blue boxes, click on add aagain and do the same procress for fridays full and set a high retention. and click ok

Don't forget to click apply to make sure teh settings have been saved,

I have multiple alerts during the copy of backup to tape, please find the comments parallel to the errors

I've decided to move the backups to another destination till all the media expires, and then i rebuild the file library but this time not as DFMF. I don't know why we originally set it up like that as we ony do nromal fulls and incremental. None of this virtual full business.

VmwareGRE with DP 9.08 error while loading plugin

Dear All

In a Esx 5.5 with vcenter 5.5u3 and DP 9.08 after installing the Advanced GRE plugin in webclient of vcenter I got the HPE dataprotector tab under the manage option but when i click in there, I got the following error with a blank page. Any idea?

Class not found 'com.vmware.vsphere.client.htmlbridge.HtmlView' while loading plugin id com.hp.dp.gre.GreAngularModule
