can you please ping Cell manager from client and vice versa.
otherwise add hostnames in hosts file.
sorry, dont understand your question. Do you mean you want to use FC or 10Gbit ethernet??
Hi ranjithpk
Thank you for your suggestion,
I am guessing this option is specific to backup which as I have mendioned is working fine over SAN.
My query is regardung restore and how this should be typically working.
Thanks again.

HPE Data Protector Virtual Machine Protection webinar, April 6
Live online:Apr 610:00 am CET, or after on demand
Is your IT infrastructure evolving so fast that your existing backup environment can’t cope? Meeting constantly growing business demands with marginally growing budgets is a herculean task that most IT organizations are challenged with. To help close this gap, you need the ability to analyze and visualize the characteristics of your data, the capabilities of your infrastructure, and to continuously optimize how these assets are used while maintaining business continuity and resiliency. Achieving this is only possible when the backup software solution you put in place is reliable, predictable, and smart. With HPE Data Protector your service level expectations in virtualized environments can be met—successfully and cost-effectively!
Join us for this session to learn how to protect your data in virtualized environments with major hypervisor integrations, tiered recovery options, process automation, and analytics and visualization for virtual environments. Our presenter Uli Wallscheid, HPE Technical Consultant and specialist for HPE Data Protector, will guide you through the supported approaches and explain the most common backup and recovery features for VMware and Hyper-V virtual environments.
Can’t attend live? You should still register to listen on demand after the event.
SAN cannot be used for restore as this can cause possible VM corruption.
As control is outside ESX with SAN mode, backup is fine however restore isnt.
Restore is LAN only until vmware is able to support SAN mode recovery.
Please click KUDOS if this is helpful and solves your issue. thanks!
Perfect
Thank you.
I also encountered the same problem
We finally found that win2003 do polling
Remove this server can unload tape
Any ideas on this?
I upgraded to DP 9.00 but I still have the same problem: RETVAL 8010.
Good morning Kloppy,
Sorry for my comfusing question :) my question was if the HPE StoreOnce 3540 will do its jobs even without the Options Flex Connection. Does StoreOnce have build-in connection like 1GB network.
Best regards,
Bannie
Hello
Please be sure that DP inet service is running under SQL administrator\domain user nad try to configure backup again.
If issue still remain reproduce issue in debug mode and share with us files created into SQL server c:\program data\omniback\tmp
Best Regards
Hi there, yes the StoreOnce will function using the 1Gbit networking however best to use 10GbE or FC. These are optional extras
Hi Bob.
i have looked at your atricale and was hoping that this would be the same for me however i already have the keep alive allready confugured. i have a backup job that hangs to. everything just tails off and i have to abort it. there are processes still running and i have to taskkill them. its really annoying at this only happens for one backup job, it started intermittantly but seems to be almost every day now and is becomming a payne.
there are no issues with tapes or connections. windows reports no error only that cell manager has hung if you could shine some light on this it would be great.
many thanks in advnace

Hi T,
Since this happened over two years ago I've applied numerous updates to my environment (I'm at 9.08 now) so I'm not certain I can offer much in the way of advice; however if you have a support contract then I'd suggest opening a case with Data Protector Support - they're great guys and they'll help you diagnose what's happening pretty quickly.
Best of luck,
Bob
Hi All
We have a requirement to create some post backup object copy jobs, to a physical tape library.
Backups currently back up to VTLs presented on a StoreOnce Backup array.
Question
When the copy job runs does the data get copied from the VTL to the physical tape or will it just copy again from the source like a normal backup?
I am in the process of planning for the Physical tape library zones, and wondered whether it simply needs zoning into the VTLs on the StoreOnce or if it needs to be zoned into a media agent?
Many thanks
Hi, you will need to zone the physical tape library/drives to the media agent host. Data will be read from VTL and written to physical tape over FC..
Click KUDOS if this solved your issue. thanks!
Hello,
We have a new tape library, an HPE MSL4048 using FC connections. We have a new cell manager setup, running Data Protector 9.08 on Windows Server 2012 (vmware vm). Is it possible to get this connected together, or will we have to set up a physical media server since the tape library doesn't have SCSI connections? In the initial setup, I can get the new windows cell manager to see the two drives in the library, but not the robotics. In looking on the vmware site we found this:
Our hosts are ESXi6.x and this references ESXi 4.x/5.x.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
